Accent Reduction Accents for Actors The Accent Exchange Voice Over Workshops

Actors: Do You Have an Accent?
Do people have a hard time understanding what you say because of your accent? Are you embarrassed to speak because you worry you won?t be understood? Is your accent holding you back from business opportunities? Most people who learn English as a second language aren?t taught the proper techniques to eliminate their accents. And many Americans have regional dialects that inhibit their ability to nail auditions. Master teacher and dialect expert, Eliza Jane Schneider, will give you the skills and techniques to eliminate your accent in an amazing eight-week course. The Accent Exchange allows you to work with American English speakers weekly to significantly reduce and even eliminate your accent.

How does The Accent Exchange work?
Lecture: Mondays 7-9pm.
A weekly lecture on the basic sound system of General American English

Lab: Saturdays 10am to 12noon.
A select group of actors will be admitted, by audition or interview, to the Accent Exchange Lab?an acting class designed specifically for work on accent reduction.

Private Diagnostic Session:
2 hour coaching session with Schneider wherein each student is provided with a personal template: a map of their specific mistakes when trying to speak General American English.

Practice with Native Speakers:
In addition to the class and lab, students will be paired up with American English speakers to work on their specific accent reduction exercises twice during the week, either in person, on the phone or via Skype.

When is the course?
July 10, 2010 - August 28, 2010

How many people are in the course?
Eliza will take no more than 30 people in the lab to make sure everyone gets enough time and attention to master the work.

Will I lose my accent in 8 weeks?
This is the only acting class designed specifically for actors who want to master their accents. If accent reduction is your focus, you may spend the entire 8 weeks mastering your General American speech. If you are able to master it quickly, you can use the skills you?ve acquired (International Phonetic Alphabet, Ear Training, Kinesthetic Exercises) to master additional accents.

Where is the course?
The Saturday lab will be held in Brentwood, and the Monday night lecture will be held at various locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area, in order to provide these tools to various communities & native speakers of various dialects around the city.

How much is the course?
Regular Price - $795
Early Bird Special - $595 if paid by June 30, 2010 ($300 deposit and then remaining $295 1st day of class)
Late Registration - $995 after July 1st
